Bonnie Caputo - Senior Program Director

Employed at the Foglia Y as of December 2003

"I work for the Y simply for the people and the mission of the Y.  I get to work with some of the greatest professionals in our industry coupled with the fact that I am continuously meeting new people and building new friendships and relationships.  The charitable side of the Y is extremely rewarding. I wish members could hear all of the stories on how their donation has helped children learn to swim, afford childcard and have a safe place to come. "

Chris Berman - Administrative Assistant

"I have worked at Foglia since August 2002. I started here in 'Mazing Kids as an attendant, then Coordinator and now I am in Administration.
I really enjoy watching the kids I used to care for in MK grow up and seeing the families enjoying all we have to offer here at this facility. My kids have grown up here and the people I work with are my extended family and I think that the respect and love we have for each other shows in the mission work we do here every day."

AQUATICS

David Zielinski - Aquatics Director

"I have been with Foglia since last December, about 5 Months.  I also spent 4 years at Buehler YMCA. In between my times working at YMCA's I spent 14 years with the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago.

I work at Foglia, because it make me feel good each day to come to work.  It is great to see people enjoying the pool in so many ways, swimming laps, taking an exercise class or learning how to swim.  I especially like to see children who struggle in the pool the first day and the progress they have made by the end of a session."

Anthony Sebastiano - Aquatics Coordinator

Started working Day camp in summer of 2004 and hired on as Aquatics coordinator march 12 2010

Favorite Y story: Towards the end of camp one afternoon a storm came up really fast.  It started to pour really bad.   Luckily we had seen it and were under the Pavilion.  The wind had picked up and the rain was now coming into the pavilion so we had decided to make a break for it and run to the building.  On the way everyone was splashing through the parking lot like it was a waterpark!  After everyone got into the gym we were OK but all soaked.  It was great to see how the kids stepped up and took care of each other.  I was all the different camps put together.  The older teen campers were entertaining and consoling a few of the teary eyed youngins.  They were sharing towels and helping eachother out.  It was a great thing to see and be apart of.

Debbie Siedlecki - Business Secretary

"I have been at Foglia for 8 years (and hope to be here until I retire).

One of my favorite "Y" stories is = I was hired by Angie Flesch. Angie was the Senior Program director here at Foglia. It would get very busy especially around camp time. As many of you know, Angie ran a "tight ship". She was the disciplinarian, mother, nurse, and lunch partner for many campers. One of my favorite camp stories is about 3 little boys who got into a little trouble. They were told to come and see Angie. Well, if you were called up to Angie's office, you were either crying or shaking in your pants before you saw her. So, Angie sat them all down, and each one explained what had happened. Angie in a soft and calm way, explained that this is not tolerated in her camp. As they walked out of her office, the one boy wiped his brow and said, "Whew, that wasn't too bad". I laughed so hard, I almost fell to the floor.  It is a pleasure to work with everyone here at Foglia."

CHILD CARE

Susan Dillon - School Age Child Care Director

I have been working at the YMCA for just over 5 years. I started at the Y five years ago in  a very part time capacity while my youngest was still home.  Once he started school, I  deepened my commitment to working at the Y.  Two years ago, the School Age Child Care Director position became available and it seemed like a natural fit.    It is very gratifying to know that I am helping out not just people who's children attend the school that our YMCA services, but to know that I am helping out my neighbors, friends and co-workers.

Jenna Stanonik - School Age Child Care Coordinator

I have worked at the Foglia YMCA for 5 and a half years in the School Age Child Care Department as well as Day Camp.

Favorite Y story: Working with children, it is difficult to pick just one story because every day is a new adventure.  One of my favorite things about my job is during the summer when we have Foglia Idol.  It is so wonderful to watch the children practice their acts for days and days  prior to the big performance and have it all come together at the end.  I love that we invite people from the community, donors, family members etc... to come and watch the show and see what their much appreciated support goes towards.  Watching those kids put their heart into Foglia Idol really exemplifies what the Y is all about.  The confidence that they gain from this experience is priceless.

Kaysi Ford - Group Exercise Coordinator

Length of time at the Y and other work experience  5 years in the Fall Favorite Y story: From the time I can remember, the YMCA has always been a part of my life in one way or another.  Growing up, I went to pre-school & took swim lessons at Buehler YMCA.  In high school, I used the YMCA to workout & rehab after several knee surgeries.  In college, I  worked at Buehler for a short while before coming over to Foglia in 2005.  I have met so many wonderful people here and have created many life long relationships.  The one that stands out the most is meeting my husband, Brad.  He was always someone I liked to watch work out & weight lift because he was so driven and worked so hard (was also not too bad to look at while on shift!).  Long story short, I gave him my number, he called, then came over to my house for a party and he never left!  We just clicked and it felt right.  We were married a year and a half later and had our son, Luke last April.  I am blessed to be a part of the Foglia YMCA and forever grateful for bringing such a wonderful man into my life to raise a family and share my life with!

That has been the goal of the YMCA since its inception.  I look forward to getting to know everyone and to share in their goals to enhance their well-being."

Employed at the Foglia YMCA for 6 years

Favorite Y story: " I enjoy working for the YMCA, because I love the people and I believe in the mission of the job we do and what we provide for our community. So many times people will ask to speak with me about their financial situation.  How they are having problems now and need a safe place for their children to be while they are at work or just somewhere for them to workout to be healthier. I love being able to tell them about our scholarship program and how we're there to help them. The tears of joy and their gratefullness makes it all very worthwhile!"

Eric Palmblad - Youth Sports Coordinator

"Coordinator for 2.5 years and lead instructor for 1.5 years.  Also had a 3-month internship here to start my YMCA career.

My favorite YMCA story has to be just getting to know and becoming really close to a specific family.  The Keane family has been in our YMCA programs since I started here and was the first true family that I got to know very well.  The 3 kids I became close to were 9, 5 and 3 respectively and have watched them grow up and improve their sports skills dramatically as the last 5 years has went on.  I have a very good relationship with both parents as well as the grandparents.  I have got to know the entire family very well and I have the YMCA to thank for that."
